Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the ministry’s experts are examining the possibility of exchanging European securities for Russian ones. Reported by TASS.
Siluanov emphasized that the clearing will be carried out at current prices, taking into account the market realities.
“So we determine the market cost of Eurobonds, we are ready to issue rubles and make such swaps accordingly, but today not everyone is happy with it. Therefore, we are in a dialogue while the final decision is still under consideration, ”Siluanov explained the situation.
Russia has been fulfilling its Eurobond obligations by paying in rubles since April 2022. The changes took place against the backdrop of Western sanctions: a foreign counterparty bank refuses to transact in foreign currency.
