In 2022, there were 377,423 economic layoffs and this represented an increase of 40.89% compared to the previous year. This is according to the INPS Job Insecurity Observatory. The comparison, the experts point out, is with a year in which layoffs were put on hold until June 30 due to the economic emergency related to the pandemic. However, compared to 2019, when there were 504,264 redundancies, a decrease of 25.15% was registered.
Dismissal
Also in 2022, 1,255,706 redundancies were reported again, an increase of 9.74% compared to 2021. However, given 2019, before the start of the Covid epidemic (1,012,637 redundancies), the increase stands at 24%.
Disciplinary discharges
Taking into account disciplinary dismissals not counted by the bloc until June 30, 2021, there were 116,569 last year, up 9.2% from a year earlier when there were 106,749. There was also a significant increase from the 85,037 disciplinary dismissals in 2020 and the 80,876 in 2019. Here are other data that emerged from the survey. Between January and December, there were 1,863,593 terminations of permanent contracts with 29,073 consensual terminations and 84,822 closures for other reasons, as well as 1,255,706 layoffs and 493,992 total layoffs between economic and disciplinary.
