Washington Post: Ukraine insists on continuing transit of Russian oil and gas

The Washington Post wrote that Ukraine and Naftogaz insist on continuing the transit of oil and gas from Russia in order not to lose state revenues.

Ukraine’s top political leaders are responding to Western demands for tougher anti-Russian sanctions by saying that pipelines should be protected. The reasons are that the remaining income of the country directly depends on it. In addition, the newspaper writes that some European allies in Kiev still need Russian resources.

According to the publication, Ukrainian officials believe that protecting the transit will allow them to create certain “leverages of pressure” on Russia. Kiev is confident that this will limit the number of places the missiles can hit.

Earlier, it was reported that German investigators suspected involvement in blowing up Ukraine’s Nord Stream pipeline. The investigation took them to a Polish company founded by two Ukrainians and a former Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier.
