The cancellation of flights and the declared threat of terrorism caused the Russians to cancel their holiday reservations for the May holidays en masse.

Kommersant writes that for the upcoming May holidays, the demand for holidays in Crimea has almost halved. Due to uncertainty, many Crimean hotels and hostels have decided not to open sales yet in May and summer.

According to Travelata.ru, sales of tours to the Crimea actually stopped. Sergey Romashkin, CEO of Dolphin tour operator, states that the demand for May holidays in Crimea has almost halved compared to 2021.

Market participants cite the ban on flights from Simferopol and other airports in the south of the country, which has been in effect since February 24 due to military special operations in Ukraine, as the main reason for the decrease in demand.

The Federal Air Transport Agency has repeatedly extended the ban on air communications with the cities of Simferopol and southern Russia, the last time until April 25. Tour operators do not believe that the ban will be lifted in the near future. This is confirmed by the statements of the carriers. For example, the Pobeda airline canceled all flights until September, opened sales to S7 Simferopol only from May 20, Ural Airlines – from May 16.

Tourists are also afraid of the declared “yellow” level of terrorist threat in seven regions of the peninsula, including the Kerch bridge area.

Meanwhile, the head of the Crimean occupation administration, Sergei Aksyonov, said on the day of the invasion of Ukraine, “The goals set by our leader (Vladimir Putin) will be achieved, this will not interfere with the holiday season.”

Recall, in March, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that after the entry of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine, there was a Russian exit from the occupied Crimea. According to the GUR, the fugitives are headed by the families of Russian officers, law enforcement officials and representatives of the Sevastopol occupation authorities. These Russians urgently sell real estate in Crimea, change the registration and withdraw the business.

According to the information confirmed by the Ministry, the Russian Guard forces are preparing to block the traffic to Russia from the Crimean bridge. In addition, the occupation authorities will limit the movement of the ferry and air communication with Crimea.
