Qatar paid eight Ecuadorian international players to deliberately lose a match against the host nation of the World Cup. Amjad Taha, journalist, political analyst and regional head of the British Center for Middle East Studies, writes about it.
He wrote on his Twitter account that the Qatari leadership spent $7.4 million for these purposes. The journalist noted that the information was obtained from five sources, from where the national teams of both countries are located.
“I hope this is a lie. We hope that the dissemination of this information will affect the outcome. Taha.i, one of the national teams of both countries, said, “The world must resist corruption in FIFA.”
Authorities declined to comment. The meeting between Qatar and Ecuador will take place on 20 November in Al Howrah.
