Qatari officials bribed eight players from the Ecuadorian national team in the opening match of the 2022 World Cup group stage to win their teams.
Amjad Taha, Director of the British Center for Middle East Research and Development, said on his Twitter page that Latin American players received $7.4 million each from local authorities. Ecuador should lose to Qatar by a score of 0:1.

The opening match between the national teams of Qatar and Ecuador will be played on 20 November in Doha. The first whistle will sound at 19:00 Moscow time.
