Right-back Deandre Yedlin, whose mother is Latvian, will play for the USA team at the World Cup to be held in Qatar.
Yedlin, 29, was raised by his mother’s parents, never seeing his father, who, according to his own words, was half Latvian. The “Inter Miami” defender is the only member of the USA team to have appeared in the previous world championship at the 2022 World Cup.
The footballer previously stated that he identified himself as 25% black, 25% American and 50% Latvian. Yedlin never saw his father, and only about 10 years ago he began to have regular relations with his mother: he was raised by his maternal grandparents.
Earlier, RUS TVNET wrote about Matt Turner, the goalkeeper of the USA national team, who in 2020 found a second homeland by obtaining a Lithuanian passport.
Team USA will play in group “B” against Wales (November 21), England (November 25) and Iran (November 29).
Чемпионати мира в Катаре пројед с 20 ноября по 18 декабря.
