He emphasized that the National Basketball Association (NBA) Eastern Conference Player of the Week award given to Latvian basketball player Kristaps Porziņgis is an evaluation of the whole team.
The Washington Wizards center helped them win four games out of four last week, averaging 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. Porzingis’ best game came against the Orlando Magic with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.
“This is an assessment of the team and our style of play. I try to make things easier for my teammates on the pitch. I also try to help the team in defense and I have personal value in winning this award.” But it’s all about teamwork – this wouldn’t have been possible without the streak,” Porzingis told NBC.
The Wizards have recently had a ten-game losing streak followed by a five-game winning streak. “Brad [Bredlijs Bīls] He’s back in the squad and he’s giving us energy. We managed to maintain our level even in the matches he did not participate in. We were a little unlucky in the losing streak, which is very important in this league,” concluded the Latvian basketball player.
Porzingis did not hide that he has improved his offensive and defensive performance, which is the merit of the team.
“I’ve learned better how to stay in shape. I’m learning a lot about myself all the time. If my legs and the rest of my body are strong, then I can maintain my fitness and play at a high level, make excellent moves. Porzingis says, “both offensively and defensively. “I have to thank the team and the coaches for my routine that helps prevent injuries.”
During his career, Porzingis was named best player of the week three times in the conference. He earned this recognition with all three teams he represented – New York “Knicks”, Dallas “Mavericks” and now “Wizards”.
