On the afternoon of January 24, Switzerland hosted the first meeting of the representatives of the European Football Associations (UEFA) and Russian Football Union (RFU) after the special operation that started in Ukraine. UEFA has confirmed that it sees the RFU as part of its extended family.

In addition, both organizations agree that the issue of the return of Russian football to the international arena should continue to be resolved. The process can begin with the admission of women’s and youth teams to the competition.

“UEFA and RFU management agree that it is necessary to solve the problem of the gradual return of Russian teams to international competitions. The first steps are likely to be the return of youth and women’s teams,” said the sources of the Championship report.

At the end of last year, the RFU established two working groups. The first considers all the risks involved in the organization’s transition to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Second, he is in dialogue with his colleagues at UEFA.
