Elkhan Mammadov, director of European associations-members of the International Football Federation (FIFA), supported Russian clubs and teams whose participation in tournaments was suspended.
Elkhan Mammadov, head of FIFA’s division of national federations responsible for Europe, was one of the attendees of the RFU conference on 28 May. In his speech, he expressed his hope for the rapid recovery of Russian football in the international arena. Mammadov’s words are quoted by the press service of the RFU.
“Our main goal is to play football, watch football and support football everywhere. Azerbaijan Football Federations Association (AFFA) Vice President, considering the current situation, I wish the RFU to resolve it as soon as possible, I wish Russian football to return to the international arena as soon as possible” said.
The participation of Russian clubs and teams in tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA has been suspended due to the situation in Ukraine. For the same reason, Petersburg was deprived of the right to host the final match of the Champions League of the 2021/22 season.
