According to BCG, Xiaomi is the 29th most innovative company in the world

The Chinese manufacturer occupies 29th place in this ranking, up two places from the previous year. The brand prioritizes innovation and emphasizes the fact that it leads to real results.

In the first quarter of 2023 alone, Xiaomi’s R&D spending increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 4.1 billion yuan (about 539,847 euros).

It is also worth noting that the number of employees in the research and development field has reached nearly 16,500. What the brand claims is more than 50% of Xiaomi employees. Also, as of March 31, the brand had already registered more than 32,000 patents. Xiaomi plans to invest a total of 20 billion yuan (about 2,633,400 euros) in research and development in 2023.

The BCG ranking is based on a survey of over 1,000 innovative global executives from December 2022 to January 2023. The ranking evaluates companies in his four categories: Global Mindset, Industry Peer View, Industry Disruption, and Value Creation.

Apple tops BCG ranking

This annual innovation ranking has been published by BCG since 2003. Apple tops the list, with Tesla and Amazon rounding out the podium. Alphabet (which owns Google) comes in fourth, followed by Microsoft in fifth and Samsung in seventh.
