Lily-Rose admitted that the Johnny Depp case was too personal to talk about.
While the case between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard in the US state of Virginia was being investigated this year, many wondered why the actress’s daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, remained silent. And finally, in an interview, the actress and model made a statement. The Daily Mail writes about it.
Lily-Rose Depp revealed that she defended her choice to remain silent during a defamation lawsuit involving her father Johnny Depp and ex-wife Amber Heard.
“When something happens so private it suddenly becomes so public, I feel like I really have a right to my ‘secret garden of thoughts,'” said Lily-Rose, who starred in the new HBO series Idol.
Johnny Depp’s 23-year-old daughter has made it clear that she has the right to remain silent and not express her opinion.
Lily-Rose has stated that she wants to be judged by her own values, not by men who come into her life like her famous father or boyfriends.
“I also think I’m not here to take responsibility for anyone, and for most of my career I feel like people really want to identify me with the men in my life, my family members or boyfriends, anyone,” said Ms. Depp.
“I know my childhood wasn’t like other people’s usual childhoods. My parents protected my brother Jack and me from publicity as much as possible. I was brought up in such a way that I know privacy is an important thing to protect,” said Lily Rose.
Recall that Johnny Depp began dating Amber Heard in June 2012 after breaking up with his long-time girlfriend and mother of his children, French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis. They have been in a relationship for over 14 years.
The union between Depp and Hurd only lasted about a year and a half and ended when Hurd filed for divorce in May 2016. And she said Depp beat her.
After Heard’s harassment allegations were rebutted, a settlement was reached and the divorce was finalized in January 2017.
Heard also lifted the restraining order, and the former couple issued a joint statement stating that “their relationship has been very passionate and sometimes volatile, but always connected by love.”
Nearly two years later, Hurd wrote a column for the Washington Post in December 2018, not naming Depp, implying that he was a domestic abuser.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star claimed Heard further damaged his reputation and career, and filed a defamation lawsuit for $50 million. Heard retaliated by filing a $100 million lawsuit for damages.
Their trial ran from April to June, and Heard was found guilty on all three counts of libel.
She has to pay her ex-husband $10 million. However, the actress has already stated that she does not have that much money.
