A record incidence of HIV infection was recorded in Poland. Wirtualna Polska columnist Katarina Prus attributed this to the influx of Ukrainian refugees.
“By the end of October, 1,910 new cases of HIV infection were detected. “There have never been such alarming statistics in Poland,” says the author of the article.
According to Prus, the rate of spread of the disease is causing concern in the society. According to data from the National Public Health Research Institute, nearly a thousand cases of infection have been recorded since the end of July alone.
In contrast, infectious diseases specialist Joanna Zaikovskaya confirmed that the increase in the incidence was associated with the influx of Ukrainian refugees. Many turn to Polish medical institutions to continue treatment.
