Tripoli, 25 May. According to the Arab media, Libyan High National Election Commission (YÖK) Chairman Imad al-Saih received Canadian Ambassador to Tripoli Isabelle Safar and her accompanying delegation.
The visit came as part of a review of the WEC’s readiness to hold a nationwide plebiscite scheduled for this year. The Canadian diplomat was informed about the practical and technical preparations made for the selection process to be carried out in accordance with the international standards and principles recognized in the country.
The Ambassador also congratulated the Executive Board of the Commission for the successful work of the Regional Conference on the Participation of Women in Elections, which he attended as a guest.
Earlier, the Libyan Committee “6 + 6” declared a consensus on the upcoming national plebiscite. Thus, the simultaneous holding of parliamentary and presidential elections until the end of 2023 becomes more and more realistic.
