Former US Secretary of State Henry KissingerThe man, who turned 100 on Saturday, described the proposal to include Ukraine in NATO as a serious mistake. He said this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
Kissinger said the outbreak of the armed conflict was prompted by Kiev’s invitation to the North Atlantic Alliance. The former foreign minister said that Ukraine should return the lost territories, excluding Crimea.
“The loss of Sevastopol, which was not always Ukrainian in history, would be such a decline for Russia that the integrity of the state would be endangered,” said Kissinger.
The diplomat supported the White House’s actions to support Kiev and said Ukraine is currently the “best armed” European state.
former president of ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced that the country should become the 33rd member of the North Atlantic Alliance, after Finland and Sweden.
