Additional OSGOP insurance will be brought for taxi drivers.
Representatives of the taxi market fear that with the introduction of a new insurance – carriers’ mandatory civil liability insurance against passengers (OSGOP) – the field may face difficulties. Additional insurance will complicate the job of self-employed taxi drivers – there are about 600,000 of them.
Currently, bus companies, tram and trolleybus companies are covered by insurance. This initiative was introduced in 2013.
It was noted that in the event of an accident, passengers covered by this insurance will be compensated up to two million rubles. To date, taxi passengers are insured only under OSAGO – the amount of insurance does not exceed 500 thousand rubles.
Representatives of the taxi market offer to finalize the bill. This initiative will be discussed in the State Duma on 14 June.
Earlier, it was reported that the State Duma will consider a bill that will reduce the New Year holidays and extend the May holidays.
