The Kremlin said on Wednesday that it was “stupid and ridiculous” to blame Russia for leaks in the “Nord Stream” and “Nord Stream 2” gas pipelines running from Russia to Germany.
“Voicing this kind of narrative is pretty predictable and at the same time predictably stupid – predictably stupid and ridiculous,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
According to Peskov, damage to gas pipelines is a big problem for Russia.
“Both Nord Stream lines are filled with gas, all systems are ready to pump, and this gas is very expensive,” the Kremlin representative said.
He also said that half of this gas is reserved for the domestic needs of the Russian Federation.
“This gas costs a lot of money, and now this gas is leaking into the air,” Peskov said. Said.
It has already been announced that Danish authorities have detected a total of three leaks. Two of the leaks were found in the “North Stream” gas pipeline northeast of the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, while another was found in the “North Stream 2” southeast of this island.
The European Union (EU) considers Nord Stream leaks to be the result of deliberate activities.
Ukraine accused Russia of causing the leaks.
