“Edgars Bergholcs, chairman of the board of directors of Baltijas electro sabiedra, will decide more and more actively in favor of household solar panels and the market will grow by at least two to three times over the next year and the following year,” said electrotechnical equipment dealer SIA. ‘ he said to LETA.

He said that at the moment the demand for solar microgenerators or solar panel systems for private homes is very high and exceeds all forecasts. AS “Sadales tīkls” has now connected 10,000 micro-generators, 99% of which are solar panels.

Bergholtz stated that a year ago, no one expected such a solar panel explosion, neither in the world nor in Latvia.

The greatest interest in self-generation of electricity by installing solar panels at home is among customers in the Riga and Pierīgas regions.

In addition, private homeowners’ interest in solar panels and their installation by the end of the year increased significantly in the fall, but the demand was so great that reservation queues formed until spring.

Overall, residents’ interest doubled last fall. Bergholtz explained the great interest as residents wanted to be protected from rising prices.

He explained that the biggest challenge is the availability of solar inverters and delays in the supply of manufacturers, as the production capacity of the factories lags behind the amount of demand. “Latvia and the Baltics are a small market in general, but there is a boom in demand in many parts of the world. Solar panels are the most cost effective alternative to rising electricity prices in Europe for private home owners, so demand for them is very high and predicted due to geopolitical events and their consequences. “It has grown much faster than expected,” he said.

Bergholtz pointed out that government support mechanisms are insufficient for rising inflation and the price of energy resources. In addition, due to the planned increases in electricity transmission and distribution tariffs, households will be burdened with more costs. “So not just next year, but definitely next year, it will be a time of solar power generation boom when more active households will decide in favor of solar panels. This market will grow at least two or three times,” said Bergholz.

According to “Firmas.lv” information, “Baltijas electro saberidade” was registered in 1994 and its capital is 10,653 million Euros. The company’s 2021 turnover was 15.18 million euros and its profit was 45.040 euros. “Baltije electro sibedrica” belongs to the German company “FEGA & Schmitt Elektrogrosshandel GmbH”.
