According to the European edition of the newspaper “Novaya Gazeta”, in the capital of Russia, the court found the Moscow Anglo-American School guilty of violating the requirements of general educational institutions and suspended the work of the institution for 90 days.
Children of US, British and Canadian diplomats go to school.
The court made such a decision according to the results of the investigation made by the prosecutor’s office on February 28. The prosecution concluded that the school did not develop additional education based on the International Baccalaureate curriculum and the American education standards “Common Core State Standards”.
The prosecution also stated that teachers do not have all the necessary qualification documents.
The school’s lawyers said no crimes had been committed, while school principal Magomed Bashirov said the school is already working to meet licensing requirements.
The school has 1,200 children aged 4 to 18. Founded in 1949 by the embassies of the United States, England and Canada, the school is still being educated by the children of diplomats from these countries.
According to the school’s website, the cost of education ranges from 1.6 million rubles to 2.5 million rubles per year, depending on the class.
