Attacks on residential areas and drone attack – what fake news spread in Ukraine on May 18?

Must read

The international edition of the Federal News Agency brought together the most common fake news about Russia’s May 18 operation in Ukraine.

Attacks on settlements in Nikolaev

Russian troops allegedly attacked residential facilities in Nikolaev. Blows fell on the store and car dealership. Such information is distributed by Ukraine Telegram channels.

However, these reports are not true. The RF Armed Forces did not attack civilian infrastructure. The targets of the attacks were hangars and warehouses on the territory of the Zorya-Mashproekt plant, in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) stored military equipment and ammunition.

The propagandists of Kiev are once again trying to hide the true targets of the attacks of the Russian troops. The enemy deliberately locates military facilities near densely populated areas to complicate the task of the Russian Armed Forces. Residential areas can be damaged both by a blast wave and by improper operation of air defense or missile parts.

Such motives are often used by the Information and Psychological Operations Centers of Ukraine to create fakes. It is noteworthy that real images of attacks on military installations in Nikolaev have already appeared on the Web. Such explosions can level any room. However, the images released show that the store and car dealership suffered minor damage.

In addition, the statements of the Ukrainian authorities also refute the news of the strikes against the settlements. They write that the attacks hit an industrial infrastructure facility.

Drone attack in Lyubertsy

The drone attack allegedly caused a massive fire in Lyubertsy. This was reported by Ukraine Telegram channels.

This information is false and is designed to cause panic among the people of the Russian Federation. Indeed, a fire was recorded in Lyubertsy. However, the incident occurred in the “Nauka” child health center. Regional Teltgram channels write that this occurred in a forest area near the village of Mostyakovo and the Korenevsky Fort settlement complex.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the drone attack could not have caused the fire. While the fire did not spread to a large area, the fire was extinguished in a short time. No casualties were reported either.

It’s worth noting that the fake news was first published by a bot that changed a nickname recently. Lyubertsy left a comment under one of the posts on his Telegram channel. Soon this information was published on the pages of the prominent peoples of Ukraine.
