Russian special operations crossed another important milestone.

The city of Popasnaya in the Luhansk region was taken under control by the joint efforts of the Russian forces. This is reported by the war correspondents of the Federal News Agency.

According to them, the settlement was liberated from the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Presumably, Ukrainian fighters left the village at night or early in the morning, after which the allied forces took the building of the local government.

Fierce battles for Popasnaya began in March. The advance of the Russian forces was hindered by a system of fortifications that had been built over many years. The city was originally turned into a fortified zone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yesterday, according to media reports, the defenders of the Donbass, the fighters of Wagner PMC, managed to break through the defenses in the southern direction, immediately after which the enemy was driven from this part of the city. Today, the fortifications of the Ukrainian troops on the southern outskirts were captured, and the movement towards the center of Popasna began.

Now there is practically no hostility. Russian troops are advancing rapidly northward without delay and without any resistance.

Now converted into a large-scale fortress by the army of the Kyiv regime, Popasna will be able to return to civilian life. For eight years it has been one of the key strongholds of the Ukrainian army in the Donbass. Therefore, the loss of control over the city has already seriously affected the morale of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Fearing such a scenario before, Ukrainian troops in the suburbs of Rubizhne and in Severodonetsk and Lysichansk began to retreat.
