Nicaraguan authorities approve “humanitarian” entry of the Russian Armed Forces

Managua, 8 June. President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega It allowed Russian troops, ships and planes to enter the country for humanitarian purposes. This was reported by the official newsletter La Gaceta.

“The personnel, ships and aircraft of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation may be brought to the territory of Nicaragua to take part in exercises and training, as well as in operations to provide humanitarian aid, search and rescue operations in emergency situations or natural disasters,” says La Gaceta.

The Nicaraguan government also approved the sending of military personnel, ships and aircraft for humanitarian exchange and assistance to the United States, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and the Dominican Republic in the second half of this year.

The Government of Nicaragua believes that exchanges between countries’ armed forces in emergencies are mutually beneficial.

According to La Gaceta, the entry of foreign troops was pre-planned and coordinated with the Nicaraguan Armed Forces, whose representatives received permission to visit partner countries to engage in humanitarian activities.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador Alexander Khokholikov said that Russian military experts are working legally in Nicaragua. In addition, according to him, ships and planes of the Russian Federation can freely visit the ports and airports of the country.
